Fortunately, not much mending this month. I have a pair of jeans that need hemmed. They have a percentage of stretch lycra in the denim that seems to grow with wear!
They need a 1 inch hem. No big deal.
This is my conundrum. It is a fine linen table scarf that is machine hem-stitched, but hand embroidered. At one area the hemstitching has shredded. I have looked through many books and magazines searching for a good mending solution. Basically, I would need to reweave the fabric, attempt to imitate the hem-stitch, and spend 6 months of my life tediously reworking the piece. Well, I picked it up at an antique shop. It is not a family heirloom so my investment in time needs to be reasonable.

| the solution is certainly less than satisfactory, but this is it. I butted the edges together and used a 2.0 zig-zag to secure it. That's all. Sometimes you have to cut your losses. If any further damage occurs I will likely cut it up and use it for something else. I think. | | | | |
Gratuity Moment: realizing that I am not a miracle worker, here she grins with resignation. A well placed serving piece will disguise it nicely. Compromise is a skill I am working on.
