I find shoes to be very inspirational. I remember when my Father bought for me my first pair of "just because" shoes. Not needed, not practical, not typical but they were me. They were blue pebbled leather penny loafers. I was 8 years old. I was so excited I kept watching my feet when I walked. I subsequently walked into a plate glass window of a grocery store. I was fine, but a definite trend had been started. Oh yes. I have a shoe problem. There I have admitted it and I feel better.I have mentioned before that one cannot have too many pairs of black shoes, I believe that with all my heart. But while sorting out summer shoes for storage in the next week, I noticed a secondary trend. I seem to have a thing for red shoes too. Oh my. The most boring clothes can be ramped up a notch with the right shoe. So, I will share a recent shopping trip. Husband, look away!
I saw these shiny red Van Eli's in a television commercial on a lady sitting in a sidewalk cafe. I do not remember what the commercial was about, but I remember the shoes!
Check out that little heel. Some people are calling these "kitten" heels, but I remember the famous kitten heels as sort of looking like golf tees.
Now, who does not need a red loafer with a nice little pewter buckle? really? They aren't penny loafers and they aren't blue but fit the genre to me.
Sort of a modified wedge heel, the sole is rubber (some kind of rubber anyway) and very flexible. My version of a walking shoe. I did try on some penny-loafer styles but they were rather clunky.
These are Naturalizers, comfortable and cute. They are Suede with some classic top-stitching.
Little teardrop shaped heel, and that top-stitching!
Also Naturalizers, these little cross-straps are not really dressy but could pass with a suit I think.
This heel is a 2 inch wedge, nice flexible walking shoe, nice gripper on the sole. I am thinking slippy sidewalks. Oh, I just felt a terrible chill, banish the thought.
Tweed Bandolino's! Yes Tweed! The fabric is actually a brown tweed and sole even though it looks black here.
Can you believe how cute these are? I am apoplectic. They are also available in a wooly plaid. Be still my heart!
And last but not least, the annual brown Clark Clog. I could live in Clark Clogs, and actually I mostly do. I like this dark brown for jeans and casual chino's. This years offering has a sole padded and boosted with air they say. I liked the button detail and top-stitching too.
Now a brief comment and rant. I have always felt that shoes say a lot about a person. Not just the color or the style but the maintenance. I absolutely cannot tolerate scuffed, soiled or otherwise ratty shoes! So today I went to a place to see about a thing and was rather unnerved to see ladies with ratty shoes, eeewww! It's not just the shoes were torn or shabby, the feet needed work let me tell ya. They were well dressed, drove high end vehicles and had major investment purses, but not so good on the shoe end. I did hold my tongue, but it was hard. Like, do you people not have a wet paper towel handy to wipe off that mud or what ever that brown stuff is? Are you wearing your kids shoes or what? OK, I'm done. It's the little things, you know? The little things just get on my left nerve!
Gratuity Moment: that my Mother and Father taught me well about my shoes!
