Remember a Beautiful October, Apples, Coffee, Christmas Fabric

Turning the calendar page from October to November is a bitter sweet ritual. Yes we do still keep a calendar with appointments, events, birthdays etc, on the back of the door that leads down to the basement. Years ago I started doing this to try to not forget where I was to be when. Then with the advent of smart phones I began to let that habit go, however, Mr. Sewtopia did not. Therefore, flipping that used, scribbled on, and essentially defaced page is still like opening a new door to new days, new gatherings, and most of all new hours to enjoy the nesting season and all it brings. While likely starting the first fire of the year while making and baking many things pumpkin and cinnamon, it is now November.

I like to look back on the month passed to remember all the touching moments that make up those special days. Of course family and friends are number one on the list but other thoughts come to mind. I have made a little list here, I hope it prompts you to recall those moments that were special to you.

 1. Our beautiful Fall trees, each day there is change. Right now only the golden leaves are clinging to the branches, that's just fine with me.

2. Lola loves the cooler temperatures, she loves to face into the wind and her ears blow back. She seems to smile! And then the zoomies, all over the house.

3. I found a new-to-me mountain farm. A dear friend and I ventured out very early on a crisp Fall morning to get apples. I think I mentioned before that I came home with much more than apples, then the next weekend I took Mr. Sewtopia with me to pick up more items for us and for son and dil. A great day out for both of us. We ended up chatting with several other couples and made some new friends in the process. Potatoes and Apples, motor homes and puppies, we may have a new club!

And then our coffee shop tour. A favorite, occasional pastime is visiting all the new coffee shops springing up in our area. The breakfast and lunch only restaurants are also gaining popularity here.

This one is only 15 minutes from home and a great stop before heading out for the day for grocery shopping etc. Patti's Pasticceria has all sorts of tempting baked goods as well. That is why it is an occasional stop rather than a regular stop!

5. Mr. and I are always searching for something engaging to watch after dinner. I have passed by Lincoln Lawyer many times but a couple weeks ago I clicked on it and we watched all 3 seasons within two weeks. I was actually planning to cancel Netflix, but didn't. I might actually find something that isn't all violence and sex.

6. And now PBS is showing The Marlow Murder Club. To me this is a must watch, the books were great. Samantha Bond is perfect in this role, the  The official PBS site, HERE.

The little things are special and I am trying to be more cognizant of these little life bonus moments. Why not jot them down in the journal, sometime I remember, sometimes not but that is my plan for November.

I found a beautiful fabric last week, a Christmas themed one. I saw it originally in photo's posted by a local quilt shop. They had samples of table runners made with it for an event they were holding. The shop was sold out but I found it online at Shabby Fabrics. I am not sure what I will do with it, I only bought 2 yards. Not sure why but I just needed it. It is beautiful.
