A Week in the Life

The week has been has been interesting. A bit of appliance issues, a bit of closet cleaning, a bit of hemming jeans and dress trousers. Fun stuff, you know how much quilters love to hem pants and repair torn pockets!  Necessary tasks but not really fun stuff.

Halloween is approaching, I have done a wee bit of decorating but not as much as usual. You know I believe in immunization. Usually I have no problems but chose to get the flu vaccine one week and the updated Covid the next week. Flu, no problem but the Covid did not agree with me. I feel a bit sick, not a major illness but aches, sore throat, and low grade fever with chills. It has been 24 hours and I am feeling a bit better, but I am not trimming blocks today, no way.

The little bolster pillow above was a simple panel, a gift from the owner of the quilt shop where I contribute to the economy. It is cute, a favorite of ours. My friend-sister, the sour dough specialist, has kept us stocked with goodies.

I managed to finish cutting these prints from the larger panel and now I'm waiting for the coordinating yardage from the UK. I have scanned my stash but just can't find what I want to make the projects I had planned. It usually doesn't take so long, but I think they may have run out of stock.

We have had postal issues as well. All of our mail coming from outside the US has been opened. I ordered some items from Hands Across the Sea Samplers, UK ( you know how much I like Nicola Parkman's patterns) and only one order arrived safe and sound. I contacted Nicola and she did ship the complete order. Bless her heart, a conscientious business owner, she is sending a replacement. I needed the items to finish Christmas gifts. Hopefully it will arrive!

Well, so sorry I have left so much time between posts. I will try to do better. I am prepping some patterns, organizing my project bags for cross stitch, and sorting books and magazines for donation. Take care everyone, keep those needles going by hand or machine it's all good.

  • I have changed my online subscriptions a bit. While TSLL  (//https://thesimplyluxuriouslife.com) was an interesting read for many years, the contents are moving in a direction that no longer interests me. This was a paid and private blog. It is leaning  to younger people trying to find their best way in life. With lots of New Age pop psychology content, this old lady with a strong faith based thoughts and life no longer enjoys exploring and trying to understand this mindset. I know that some people get their therapy from Facebook but I find that to be dangerous and shallow. If one needs help with life stresses and personality disorders, go to a pro, not social media.
  • I am now supporting Jayne, of The Dressmakers Closet HERE a garment and pattern maker. I have referenced her in the past. Her video's are always interesting and inspiring. Last year her husband passed away after a long illness. Jayne was devastated and knew she need to make some changes. During this transition phase she moved into a 100+ year old Victorian/Edwardian home. Her current video's document her process of renovating and restoring this home. My heart is with her. Such amazing fortitude after a painful loss. This I understand. She is fortunate to have a helpful and understanding family to help. Her web site and pattern sales are her income. Her video's are free. So pop over there if you are interested.
  • And again, Hands Across the Sea Samplers, HERE,,  is always an interesting site, her YouTube video's are also free, HERE

The flowers are done now, the season is upon us, time to switch out to warm clothes.
