A Friday This and That

Good Morning Dear Sewists. I hope you are waking to the weather that suits your plans for the day. I know, I am always commenting and fussing about the weather but living in a temperate climate with a bit of an ill temper, it really does affect what I do, or not. For example, playing Croquet in a downpour, now that will mess with your little white straw hat! In my growing up years, in our family, you played tennis or croquet. My grandfather built a clay court during the depression years to keep his family busy. The croquet area was not far from the court and set up when Sunday rolled around and the adults would putter around before dinner. It was really rather competitive now that I think about it. Good memories.

This has been a week of tragedy and reflection. Nothing more I wish to add but a young man, a hero, lost his life as we all watched. My heart breaks for all.

That said, a dear friend, a sister from my past came to visit. I've known her since childhood and we were room mates in nursing school. We could chat for hours andhours, and we did. She will return to her home tomorrow and we will pick up where we left off the next visit. She has a large family and her siblings plan for her visits and they keep her nice and busy.

Ok, so much for the "This" of this weeks post. Between doctor appointments and visits I didn't get a whole lot done this week. One big project was moving all my cross stitch supplies, books, etc. upstairs. I am trying to be more organized and efficient and if I need to spend more time resting, I will have what I need close by. I have more patterns than I realize and less linens and Aida, and way more threads than I thought. To me that translates as big plans, little action. 😁

Big bear greetingIn my archives I found this cute little quilt pattern. Thought today would be a good day to share.

A free quilt  pattern from the Crafty Quilter HERE.

FREE Season Reflections Quilt Pattern is perfect for confident beginners. Designed by Julie Cefalu @ The Crafty Quilter Designs.Meet Julie, the Crafty Quilter. Here she is offering  a free pattern for her Season Reflections quilt. In this post she also shares the interpretations of the quilt testers. A must see. Each of the testers interpreted the pattern differently.

Another interesting link for a blogger I lost track of several years ago. When last I read her postings the little girl was about 4 years old. Take a look, Posy gets Cozy, HERE.

And last but not least Connie shared this Fall table runner about two years ago. copy this table runner if you are thinking about a nice quick little project to get you a jump step for your table decor. You will get a redirect link, I checked it, it is good. This was posted a few years ago. I know I am making one. Too cute.

  • These projects are leaning to Fall colors. I am going to dig around in my stash. I know I have some fabrics that would work.
  • Our bear hasn't surfaced yet this summer, we stay alert. He has visited regularly.
  • Till next time........

Croquet!! All the time and did not even remember until reading this. Badminton was the other summer game, I wish my knee could handle it now.
