Hello fellow Sewists. In the world of Sewtopia some topics remain at the top of the list. Do I prefer the fabric designs in traditional quilts or bright modern fabrics that are the hot market trends? My answer is, it depends on the day, the weather, the shop, the sample. In the land of black and white decisions, I remain gray. Well, now that the dilemma has been solved look what I found on a gift shop web site. These are pine cones, opening up, painted in seasonal colors. Cute huh?
I lean traditional, colonial, at times with a wink to primitive style. That takes me to the glorious fabric line, Jane Austen's House for Riley Blake Designs. I swore I would not buy any more fabric, I lied. I will be going on a fabric fast after the first of the year, so in the meantime, I need to stock up. It is going to be a long Winter, right?
One of my favorite online shops is My Favorite Quilt Shop, . They are offering a free downloadable pattern for my current passion fabric line. You can view it, HERE. I will share when it arrives. I have used this shop several times and their fabric quality is excellent, shipping is free, transaction is smooth, and the product arrives in a timely manner. They do not sell fabric or notions that they do not already have in stock. A very big plus for me. This is a photo from my email for the free pattern, I hope it doesn't disappear. I ordered two fat quarter bundles to make this. I reminds me of ones made by family members in the past. They have a large and varied inventory. I am not compensated in any way by this shop but I have discovered, painfully, that not all online sellers are honest or helpful. The end.
-What a wonderful week, visiting with my room-mate from nursing school. We continue to remark about how quickly time passes. I am so fortunate to have several life-long friendships. Our history is our strength, our future is in the hands of God.
-I have brought all the houseplants in except two and the herb collection, I'm not sure how I will handle them. I can carry over the rosemary, chives, parsley, oregano, and thyme. That is a work in progress.
-My new daughter-in-law solved the spider plant issue. She planted to 10 inch planters for me from her "babies." Now to get up on a ladder to put them on their hooks. Mmmmmmm
-The last of the leaves have yet to fall, then no more green, no more orange, yellow, red, and purple. Gray, all gray, and brown, and gray.
-Lola has been ill with a urinary tract infection. Medication is working but she is still a little punky.
-My embedded ticks, after removal, will go down in history. They are everywhere now, I have suspended my walks around the house and into the edges of the woods until we have a prolonged freeze. That will supposedly kill them. We will see.
-Well, off to the studio to search out a fabric that an online friend needs for a project. She has run short, bought it locally but lives in another state.

I'm surprised we haven't had any ticks this year since we feed the turkeys and deer in the woods. No socks, slip on shoes, we've been lucky. But I may put my knee high rubbers on from now on.
