Happy Halloween, Lets Make Cookies

Happy Halloween Sewtopians. A group of friends and I were discussing our different childhood memories of this holiday, what a fun time. I never had a fancy costume. A bit of my mothers makeup, an old dress or and old shirt that my father saved for garden work with a pair of clunky boots, that was me. We lived in the country, we walked a distance to gather up a bit of candy. We were never afraid of razor blades or poison in our candy or popcorn balls. Life has changed.

(*photo from Facebook or Pinterest?) Today my costume will look much like my typical at-home wear, but I do have nice fuzzy socks with pumpkins on them. We never have any little ghosts, goblins, or superhero's. Not even a ballerina. We live in the woods up a long dark drive. Not conducive for the walk. Husband used to buy lots of candy, "just in case." He ate it.

In lieu of  a basket of candy, I baked some brownies, ( I cheated, it is a box mix, Ghiardelli from Costo) and these special cookies. These are so good, such a great departure from the chocolate version. Pumpkin anything is a big hit here. The recipe is available on Kitchen Chronicles, Pumpkin Whoopie Pies, HERE.

Our leaves are mostly down, my snapdragons are still blooming! The mums are beautiful.

I am thinking about Christmas gift exchange mug rugs. Maybe some cute little embroidered kitchen towels. Because I cannot sit or stand for any length of time right now, I am planning, making kits, choosing my embroidery threads. While I have many, many colors, I often find that a specific color, recommended by the pattern is not in my stash. I try to find something close.

I am planning my Thanksgiving gift baskets, as is my custom. I need one for someone I don't know very well. I will need to do some research!

My online friend, Connie, shared this runner and simple pattern recently. The way she arranges the color of the strips make it cohesive. The pattern HERE, ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS.

  • I plan to finally get to the studio, the Fall cleaning and decorating is done!
  • I want to photograph the new fabrics that have arrived and my plans for them.
  • Maybe a visit to the basket loaded with craft ideas or a scan of the books dedicated to little projects. That might take the entire afternoon, not that it would be a waste of time😂
