A This and That today:
-My online designer friend, Connie Kresin, always has some great ideas. Many times her smalls are just right for your quick projects. Today she shared a great idea for those left over Fall themed fabrics. Here she makes the cutest pumpkin mug rugs, from scraps. Pop on over HERE, for the directions. They are free!
- I have a small collection of left-over/scrap fabrics. When I see what a designer like Bonnie Hunter has I feel pretty darn good about my excess. On her blog, HERE, she shares an amazing number of free designs using scraps. She has a system too. While not much of a scrapper myself, I really appreciate the talent required to produce the magnificent quilts she creates. I stopped following her blog regularly when she became a bit political. Not going there.

-Dahlias, are they not the most fantastic Summer blooms? I tried to grow them several years ago, some did very well, others not. I readily admit I was clueless and never really tried again. But next year, I have a plan. Glorious blooms in many styles are available in nurseries, garden stores, and big box stores to incite your flower passion. That said, the amazing Sharon Santoni, shares all she has learned over the years about growing glorious dahlias, HERE.
-Are you a PBS Masterpiece Theatre follower? Well, if so be joyful because Miss Scarlet and The Duke, Season Two is on deck. HERE, is the preview. Program to air Sunday, October 16th, at 8pm eastern/7central. I will be there.
-Because I am not a quitter, well, except for parallel parking (whoa, is that a story for the ages!) I have pulled out some yarn and I am determined to knit a little neck scarf. I have a beauty gifted to me by knitter extraordinaire, Terri, that I wore today believe it or not, because my neck was really chilled. I know, one day warm, next day frozen. Anyway, a little bit of YouTube research has led me to this site where a free pattern and video instruction are presented. One on one, that is where I am these days. Check this out, HERE. This is a simple chunky seed stitch infinity scarf that is stitched flat and seamed at the ends. I can do that. Probably not with chunky yarn, I am trying to limit the whole chunky theme.
Sheep and Stitch is a new site to me, HERE, I will be spending some time there.
I am quite blonde now and that lavender scarf gives my pale skin a nice pinkish hue. Well, that's what I say. Pale is so washed out. I need color.
Louise Cutting has some fabric with those gray and green colors I mentioned the other day, HERE. A beautiful shirting fabric, very on-trend right now, is on sale. 2 1/2 yards is all that is left. It is a directional print, beautiful. I had the piece in my cart, shipping was $16.50. I have a pattern coming from Australia that is less than that. I have my limits. That is it. Seriously, shipping is half the cost of the fabric, well a little less but, not for me.
Interested? Check out this beauty HERE.
- Well, that's all for now. I have a couple friends directly in the path of the storm in Tampa. Heard from them this morning, they are prepared but this looks like it will be a bad one. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
- We finished up the last of the wedding dinner plans today. Champagne has been ordered. As son says regularly, "you only do this twice, well, I (meaning he) is only doing this twice!" Comforting for his mother, you know.
- Tomorrow another doctor visit, another spinal injection. Not looking forward to it. If I did well after I would be more amenable, this is the last time for this.
