Yes dear friends, she freezes bananas. Why? Well, you would be surprised at how many uses one can find for frozen bananas. First, let me talk about waste. Often, way too many are purchased when at a decent price but alas, you can only eat so many bananas, right? So I slice them about 1/4 inch thick, just like a nice 1/4 inch seam! I lay them in a single layer on a pizza pan *( I know but it fits my freezer drawer perfectly.) And sprinkle the slices with the juice of a half lemon. I freeze them for about 2 hours or so, then carefully scoop them into a zip lock freezer bag. I use them for smoothies, bake goods, even snacks. By the way, I buy lemons by the bag as well and do the same thing, I don't need to sprinkle them with lemon juice though! It is so refreshing to have a nice little slice of lemon to pop into a drink or lay atop a broiling piece of cod! You need some lemon butter? Just put a slice or two into a microwaveable glass measuring cup with the butter needed and maybe some minced garlic, Julia Child, you have a plan!
I have a family member who used to own a restaurant and has all sorts of nice little graphs and information we all can use. The quick little recipes above will add to your collection if you wish.
And then there's this, I have a couple cookbooks with gram measurements, I need this.
- I have two cookbooks that use gram weight measurements. My kitchen scale is old, probably not accurate. I am scanning the suppliers for something of quality but I don't want to take out a mortgage, you know what I mean? I will probably only make a few recipes from each book anyway.
- I keep saying that I will cull my collections of wooden spoons, wire wisks, and rubber spatulas. I keep saying that, I haven't done it so far. I have a relationship with some of these things, many years, lots of cooking. I'm not ready yet.
- I make most of my dressings in the blender, I like the way it emulsifies and then a little shake then next day and we're ready to go.
- That's all folks!
