Back in the Time Machine, The Carpenters Star

So, here we are at the end of August, I just cannot believe our Summer is in its waning days! It's that time of year when I start unearthing the Fall decor in the storage room where a history of this home exists. I remember where I bought this wreath or that, who I was with at the time, and the wonderful times we had. Not to induce melancholy, but good times, for me, are often tied to seasons and experiences tied to the Fall seasons. Craft shows, roadside stands, and garden tours all enhance our lives and deserve to be remembered and celebrated.

Reviewing older blog posts invokes much the same feelings. As a result, I share this one, again, from November of 2021. Coming out of the pandemic isolation,  Jenny shared some great old patterns, fashioned in new, brighter colors giving the quilt a very different presentation.  So, here we go, The Carpenters Star!

Duck in a bowl, I need to remember to show you all my duck collection. It all started years ago. This little one is from a booth at Shaker Woods Festival in Columbiana, OH. several years ago called Christopher's Rainbow. The Shaker Website, HERE.  The 2022 dates are posted if you are interested, 200 craftsmen display their wares for 3 weeks in Summer. I no longer see Christopher's Rainbow listed among the vendors but there is everything there that you can imagine.

OK, where was I.....  After searching through many draft files, I came upon this sweet little quilt. Originally posted by Jenny in 2018, it is one of those great stand-by patterns one can call up for a quick gift or a meaningful donation for your service project. How sweet is this? Easy enough for a beginner with a knowledge of the 1/4 inch seam allowance or for the more advanced quilter wanting to play with color and pattern. *A smaller vision could easily be made using charm squares rather than the 10 inch layer cake, mmmmm!

  • Jenny Doan has been so generous to quilters with her You Tube video's. Learning from her, in your own home, what could be better?
  • Heard from the grapevine....Missouri Star Quilt Company has bought Sewing With Nancy, details coming soon. I understand it will be a cooperative and sharing venture.
  • It's never too soon to start planning some projects for 2022, those bridal showers and birthdays will be here before you know it. And babies, babies, babies, quilts, burp pads, changing pads oh my!
  • Booster Covid shot this week, such is life.
  • Lunch with dear friend too. Have a lovely week.

I made this as a gift from a pretty little "Layer Cake" I had in the stash. The recipient was quite pleased. (I don't have the photo, I had to delete hundreds of photo's, many no longer appropriate to the blog and lots of duplicates.) Advance to Fall 2021, and here I am back again. I will search the stash to see what would work, I'm thinking something blue and yellow for Spring? Something happy? Anyway, I think this one has lots of potential.

Pulling the Summer flowers is always a bittersweet moment. They were a bit fussy this year, but in the end, happy little bloomers. I will soon be mapping out the beds and spaces. I have dreams, dreams of raised planter gardens, well manicured beds, and lush thick grass. But first, I need to get a memo to the wildlife, little chompers!
