Early each morning, when Lola and I head for the back porch to contemplate life and watch the critters live their best lives, I scan the potted herbs and flowers. I have two planters that seem to attract the mushroom fairies! Almost every day, these little toadstools appear and are gone within a couple hours. Now, I have never actually seen the little fairies that likely plant them, but the butterflies seem to be in on the ruse, they hide them and likely flutter away with the little magic creatures on their wings.
It has been my wishful thinking that the little mushroom fairies would sprinkle some magic powder on me, not to turn me into a mushroom, but to help me get my projects finished!
Okay, enough wishful thinking, the fairies are not really much help. I did manage to get the Thanksgiving panel loaded onto the quilt frame. I had to do some basic maintenance like oiling the bobbin case, changing the needle, wiping the rails, changing the thread, checking the tensions etc. My larger issues were related to some recent high speed use. One just cannot run these domestic quilting machines like a race car. Not good for them. I am hoping that tightening some bolts and replacing some that apparently jiggled off, that I can work this panel with a simple design, apply the hanging sleeve and move on. I am fortunate to have a paper pattern for this little woolie, I did check, it is still available on the Etsy site for Penny Lane Primitives, HERE, as a PDF. This is a charmer, I have my fabrics bundled and kitted up, I will try to do some layout and cutting while Lola's groomer is here this afternoon.
I ordered some little primitive Halloween patterns from Stacy Walsh. The Goode Wife of Washington County, her Etsy site, is HERE. I'll share some photo's as I work them but for ideas, please visit her site. Now her private site where she displays and sells finished items is HERE. She is an amazing sculpture artist. Her figure are beautiful and dressed to perfection. (no affiliation)
- As Summer enters its final chapters, I am attempting to wrap up some long term projects while planning some little ones for this month.
- The Google intruders are still at work now and then and I am at a loss as to why. There are no specific answers but I have my ideas. It likely has to do with advertising, no matter how statistics are manipulated, I will not run ads here. The alternative is to go private with high monthly fees, that will not happen either. I am using this last month of Summer to track some things, we will see.
- I am finding occasional, confusing, bare shelves in the supermarket confounding. Some weeks no problems at all, others, peculiar absences of staples. Mmmm
- Two unexpected persons of my acquaintance passed away this last week. It is for their family I mourn, lives will be changed, painfully.
- My dear son would have been 44 this week. A difficult couple weeks, no doubt.
- On a lighter note, don't forget to mine your stash for projects that you wanted to make but never got around to making. Little things, items that you can create from your stash, items you can finish!
- Toodles!
