It is so darn hot here, I spent the early hours outside working on an unexpected clean up project. Because we live in a wooded area, we have issues with mildew on some areas of the house and the roof. Our roof is Gambrel-style and attracts all kinds of dust and debris. When we were younger the cleaning process was our annual tribulation. With power scrubber, brushes, and a hose and ladder, we would usually take two days to finish. These days, and for the last 10 years, we have been fortunate to find a young man and his workers who do an excellent job, with plant safe solutions, not a power scrubber that damages shingles, who finish the job in about 2 hours. I neglected to remove the patriotic table decor from the back porch and the solution destroyed my runners. Well, what can I say, it was my fault. Because he was trying to be helpful, the young man cleaned my porch, the furniture, everything.... So this morning I did a wipe-down of everything with my vinegar/water/dawn cleaning solution I have discussed in the past and now we are sparkling. The front porch required little clean-up, they took care of all that for me. I am so thankful, they went beyond the contract, rare these days! But I am hot. It takes me quite a while to do what used to take minutes....but.....I can still do it. A hot shower and I will be right as rain.
While re-hydrating I checked my email and came upon some bargains. So finally, good afternoon Sewtopians! and I am really late today and for that I apologize. I discovered an opportunity for those who sew garments, craft with kiddos, or need some ribbon. Today I received the newsletter from the Vogue, Butterick, McCalls online pattern group about a great sale. Patterns start at $3.99, that does not happen often. Just in time for season change and back-to-school, you may want to take a peek at their website, the link, HERE. Their craft patterns are included. A little something for everyone. As soon as I have time I will thoroughly scan the site. The sale starts today and ends on the 24th. Patterns are expensive in case you haven't noticed so take a look, you may stumble upon a bargain.
These photos are not mine, they are from the Phipps Conservatory. Mine are being decimated by Japanese Beetles! Oh my, I cannot keep up they are voracious!
Well, that's all for now. I am considering radio-silence here for about a week. The "google-bots" have been mining this blog for days. We are talking hundreds, up to several thousand intrusions per day. They are collecting data. I think. There is nothing controversial or threatening here except me complaining now and then. So, I will not post until Monday or Tuesday of next week just as a test. Thank you for your patience, I'll be showing a new member of the family soon. Not like Lola Bean, but already causing some commotion. The neighbors and the delivery people are having a bit of a chuckle!
4 years ago, this little bundle of curls arrived and changed our lives forever!
