I mentioned the other day that my little digital camera was acting up. I took these the day I was cutting out a quick little apron from fabric left-overs. Everything has a bit of a yellow tinge. I am not sure why this fabric was in my bin, is is a cute little floral but it is a bit stiff. I don't think it is a quality cotton but I decided to use it anyway.
I keep this handy, in a clear envelope thing, large binder clip attached and pegged to the wall with a push pin. I always know where it is. Sometimes I line these, making them reversible, for this one I only had enough fabric for a single layer. I made the neckband and the ties from left over 2 1/2 binding that I had pieced from left over jelly roll strips. These are KAI scissors. The best part about these, other than I have been using them for years and they are still very sharp, is they have little itty-bitty serrated teeth on one blade that grips slippery fabric. If you are cutting out silks or fine linens, there are no problems. No slipping or shifting on your cutting line. All the KAI's that I have have these little teeth. Every thing from the tiny embroidery scissor to dressmaking shears. No compensation, just a fan.
Because I cut this out on my kitchen island, sort of on an impulse, I used my favorite shears. I didn't feel like dragging the cutting mat and rotary cutter up the steps, thus the scissors.
The selvage shows all I know about this fabric and I think I have had it for quite some time so it is likely no longer available. Cute little roses, why not?
This fabric must be from the late 1980's or early 199'0s. The more I think about this I was really into the cottage look and I think I bought this to make a table cover for a little table I had in the sun room of the cottage. Mmmm, I wonder.
Lola was restless, circling the island, wanting attention. When I finished cutting I packed everything up, put it in my task basket, then took her outside. A little peeved I think because the look she gave me was a bit annoyed, and Lola seems to be saying...."are you looking at me?"
