A Friday This and That, Notes from Maple Lane House

In the early morning today, after watering flowers and herbs, I took some time to just admire the density of the foliage this year. As Lola and I walked a bit I couldn't help but notice I can barely see into the woods by the barn, the trees and undergrowth is that thick! Our baby black squirrels are scurrying all over now, they are more brave every day, mindful of the huge crows and owls sitting high in the trees, they play together with total abandon.

This time of year is absolute heaven to me. It is hot today, rather humid as well. This afternoon I plan to land in my rocking chair with a nice frosty glass of ice tea and read a bit of my book. I have a new magazine to peruse as well. I put my magazines etc. in a large zip lock bag and keep them by my chair so that when I go out, for whatever reason, I have something to read. Without that protection they absorb too much moisture.

The Book of the Week.

  • One of the most outstanding presentations of Masterpiece Theatre, on public television, is Endeavor. The season 8 premier is Sunday. Three episodes will be available and each a movie of sorts unto itself with former and new cast members presented. The first story starts in 1971.
  • HERE is the link to the official preview. The is the final season, "the end of the beginning." You see, Endeavor is the life and times of Inspector Morse timeline. When the Inspector aired, his history, his character development, and the story behind the brilliant, moody, grumpy, inspector was unknown. Now, we know. Not to miss.
