Planning The Week, A Sunday Summary

According to the Farmers Almanac Calendar, we should be getting ready to see our forsythia going into bud and bloom. Mmmm, maybe next month? Anyway, you can force forsythia by making some nice little cuttings, put them in some warm water, change it every day. Sometimes I add a bit of sugar to the vase. When the snow and ice clears I will stomp through the mud and do just that!
Forsythia stand against a deep blue sky at peak bloom.

What I'm reading the Arts and Craft category.

-I'm still studying the Dear Jane book. What an amazing compilation of blocks. I cannot imagine.

Sampler & Antique Needlework Quarterly 1991-2015 DVDThis is on the way. I still have a few hard copies of the magazine from 2014-2015, many have been misplaced and I feel bad about that. These are historical and precious items for the needle worker. After minimal consideration I ordered this CD. Not just for the pictures, not just for the patterns, but for the stories associated with the projects. *This has arrived and I can spend hours and hours just reading. I wish I could have hard copies but the CD will have to do.

For some unknown reason, my 2021 Christmas issue just arrived. Ah, the mysteries of the mail system. Anyway, some cute ideas for next Christmas!

Primitive Quilts & Projects December 01, 2021 Issue CoverThis issue is just brimming with good ideas!

 • Lots of reading the last few days. If only I had the talent and time to make all this stuff!
 • I found a new recipe for the Olive Garden Copy Cat Chicken Gnocchi Soup on the On Sutton Place Blog, HERE. The grocery list is being compiled as we speak (My Sunday habit) and I usually have potato gnocchi in the pantry but today I do not. Mmmmm wonder where that went?
 • As much as I like have the Baby Lock Accomplish straight stitch machine in the dining room, she has to go down to the studio. I really cannot abide the clutter. No matter how hard I try, no, no, no. I will need to enlist son here, this machine is very heavy. The specs say it weights 23.9 lbs, machine only. Mmmm, my bobbin must weight 10 lbs all by itself😄
 • I like pre-wound bobbins. There, I said it. Frowned on by some stitching purists, I find them convenient, always offer a balanced stitch. However, mostly only available in black and white, and in poly or occasionally a poly cotton blend, they do have some limitations. Bobbin issues are often the culprit in poor stitch formation. A loosely or unevenly wound bobbin is the stittchers nightmare.
 • Busy week ahead this one. Lola has a beauty parlor appointment, she needs it, she has been walking in mud and is super curly after a snow romp! Dinner with friends, former co-workers, church events, and doctor appointments. Life in retirement, I seem to be busier than ever. How can that be?
 • The Lenten cleaning process is lagging a bit due to my miserable back pain. Everything seems to take twice as long as it used to! But I will be ready, I hope! I have to wait a month for my surgeon appointment. This is my last resort. MRI not good at all. No surprise but we will see.
 • May your week be full of sunshine, kindness, and hope for peace.
