A Winter Respite: Pittsburgh Area Attraction: Phipps Conservatory Orchid and Tropical Bonsai Show

If you have followed this blog for any amount of time you know that this magical place is close to my heart. I attend every show, sometimes more than once because it is the most peaceful and beautiful environment for the study of flora.

The Christmas show was a beautiful view of trees, traditional flowers, and colorful out of season flowers. It fills the gap from Winter to Spring.

This show is Orchid and Tropical Bonsai. The Koi collection is also frolicking in the Sunken and Orchid room water ways.  Of course, the train display cannot be missed!

All tickets must be pre-reserved for members and non-members, they go on sale tomorrow, January 10th, HERE!

Wear your walking shoes, some of the paths are a bit uneven. Take a camera, allow at least 1 hour to walk the show. Masks are suggested but not required for those vaccinated, required for those not vaccinated but I have never seen an issue. There is a lovely gift shop and cafe. Parking is free in front of the grounds, there are handicapped accessible spots with a minimal charge.
