Last night I slept under a Vintage quilt made by husbands maternal grandmother and aunt. I slept well, I slept warm, (despite the AC being cranked to keep fish frozen) and it felt like a hug. Really, her quilts do that for me.
This one was made, I think, from old house dresses and fabric scraps, it was tucked away in a chest, in the attic, it was never used.
This charmer was made sometime in the 1960's, it was a purposeful design but note that the blues are different here and there. That is not from use or washing, that was what they had. Be aware, these ladies were frugal from early life in the Great Depression, but they were not poor at all. Their simple lifestyle would be lauded today. They were generous, kind, crafty, and loved by many.
A close up here.
These quilts are the same pattern, different colors. I have shown this before but these quilts are just right with my yellow border flowers. I seem to do the same things over and over....................😏
And last is a photo of my Vintage Singer, I named her Rocky, she is a Rockateer model!
This a Vintage replica, it is an amazing little steam iron! Still going strong. I plug this in at the beginning of a work project and unplug it when done. It is 10 years old, I don't think it is available anymore.
- Looking back brings nice memories of those who taught me to quilt.
- I love old quilts, they have been used, washed, most dried in the sun. You can tell.
- Soon our quilts will be vintage, yikes.
- Have a lovely weekend.
