Bind Me a Quilt, Using the Serger (Overlocker)

Dear fellow quilters, I found this brilliant idea in one of my Facebook groups that I wanted to share. By a lady named Denise Schober, I think it is a great idea for those of us with sergers that don't get used to their potential

Finishing up the binding on the bowtie quilt this morning and wanted to share the technique I used.
Set the serger up for a three thread narrow hem with polyester embroidery thread in the upper looper, regular serger thread in the needle and lower looper. stitch length 2.0 stitch with 5.0. finished it off by top stitching it down and the sewing machine with the polyester thread and a needle and matching Bobbin thread to my backing. Any quilter can adapt many of the ideas formulated in this group to their skill portfolio.
I have two great sergers, one I thread with an off-white thread and one with a medium gray. This serves most of my use. But I will try this for sure. Since my corners tend to not be so neat I will need to practice a bit more, but I also like curve edges on quilts gifted for children. So I can adapt that here. No photo description available.
Every time I bind a quilt by hand I think of my dear friend Kay who recently left us to collect her rewards in heaven. Her stitching was meticulous. I miss her.

While she would not likely do this I know she would appreciate the technique and those of us who use it!
