Who doesn't need to some new ideas? Ideas for storage, sewing, quilting, embroidery, etc? Well, I have found a few that might interest you.
- Machine Embroidery requires lots of threads, lots of colors. That tends to equal lots of disorganization, spools rolling about in drawers and tangled ends. Not good. So, check this out! These are golf tee's glued to a plastic drawer. If you use a good glue, I would think they would hold up.
- Whether you want to jazz up your sewing space or need to find an innovative way to display a little quilt, this is a cutie. So many flea markets, antique shops, architectural salvage places now stock old windows. I think I may have one or two in the barn.....
- Do you have ribbons tucked in drawers? Here are some cool ideas to tame those wild ends!
- And, And, just because!
Sunshine, warm breezes, bird song, and life goes on. My wild cherry trees are blooming, the May Apples are popping up in the underbrush. The gardener just ordered lots of seeds, he has plans. I bought him a new paint sprayer, not sure what he did with that, I wonder if it is a sign?
- Chilly here, trying to rain, breezy, typical Western Pa. Spring. But...the grass is so green, the trees are budding out, and the turkey are roaming near the house. That tells me someone is roaming the woods, stirring them up. That makes me nervous. We will likely invite some bow hunters in the Fall, we are over-run with deer. Hard for me to do but necessary I think.
- Do you know how difficult it is to find someone to repair clocks? We finally did find a nice man who travels the area to do just that. Of course, mine had to go to the shop, I won't see it for about 8 weeks, that is how busy he is. Now, I have a big blank wall in the empty (waiting for furniture) living room. Visitors are enjoying the wide open spaces!
- Not a good photo I'm afraid but the only one I can find right now. In 1982 we traveled back to Omaha, Ne. to show the oldest son where he was born. On the way back we stopped in the Amana Colonies, as we always did, and ordered this clock. The skilled craftsmen there have a large building where they make nothing but clocks. This one is made of fine black walnut, it is very special to me for many reasons. However, after moving it something happened and it stopped working. We have been looking for a fixer ever since. I long for the melodious chime to mark my days. I was apparently leaning when I took this!
- Today, I am making sauerkraut. I am using a recipe from a friend who has since past. His sister found it on the torn flap of an old crinkled envelope if you can imagine. Jim didn't write things down for posterity. He kept it all in his head. God Bless him, he was a great cook. So, off I go to try the shredding process in the food processor. I did buy a new mandolin to shred. It didn't do so well with the vegetables, but it did cut the end of my finger!
