This is how I feel after the week so far. Dust, the culprit, has literally wiped me out!

March 2015, The Ladies of the Cloth have been making 9 patch quilts again for our annual contribution to the quilt guild service project in October. This is only a small sample from the past. Kay was our binder, now a new volunteer has taken that task.

I have no idea why I have tired of the glorious 9 patch. I think it's as our electrician said recently, it's like wiring and rewiring the same socket, day after day. Who knows? In this project I think I used 5 inch charm squares but as I have noted before, Google is blocking my access to some of my own photos. The whole photo business on this platform is still giving me trouble. I have been shown a work-around but quite frankly, it is tedious. Anyway, we are doing the 9 patch again, our designer, Rose will assemble all the random pieces into a cohesive item. We are very committed to make our service quilts as nice as any we would gift someone we know. It is a matter of respect.

  • One of the important acts of kindness any quilter can bestow on another is the gift of a quilt.
  • We are aware that these at-risk children sleep where ever they can find a spot. They don't have blankets or certainly not hand made quilts. We hope to alleviate their discomfort and let them know the world is not all difficult.
  • Will it make a difference?
  • Education makes the difference, keeping them in school with warmth, food and support is the answer. We do what we can.
  • On a lighter note, the 5 inch square, or now commonly referred to as a charm square is an extremely versatile cut. Works for me!
  • Hopefully, after this week life will gain some semblance of normalcy. We started the tear apart and emptying of curio's, china closets etc. on Monday. The workers yesterday did a wonderful job with the duct cleaning, 3 1/2 hours later we put everything back together and cleaned every room top to bottom, until 11 pm, then collapse. Today, I have a lot more to do on the top floor. Oh,  and one more curio in the living room. We are so darn clean I can hardly take it. Now, I have not been to the studio yet. I wonder if that young man sorted those piles of fabric and patterns while he was down there?
