Good Morning Sewist friends. I hope your world is starting to thaw, mine is, very slowly, but I'll take it. I got my first Covid Vaccination yesterday. It was a work of amazing planning by a local health system and Insurance provider.
The venue was a baseball park, PNC Park. I love, love, love baseball and our team has smelled to high heaven for years now, but I grew up listening to baseball on the radio with my Grandmother (Corinne) out in the back yard, under a giant Sycamore tree. I couldn't follow very well and took my cue's from her. By that time her vision was almost totally gone and the radio and her baseball team, the Pittsburgh Pirates, kept her alert and engaged.
This event was planned to a T. Hundreds of people moved through a quickly moving line, offered cookies and hot chocolate, (I know) checked in, injected, waited 15 minutes and escorted out to the street while some amazing police officers (PNC officers) held back traffic so you could get to your car. They even had wheel chairs, all new, parked at strategic places, by heaters to keep them comfy, if you needed one. Every one working the venue was dressed alike, they had signs on sticks to hold above the crowd so you could see where to go, I thought I was touring the Vatican again with Sylvania, our favorite Italian tour guide. Everyone had masks, every surface was constantly being cleaned by a team of workers, I was impressed. And my husband was equally impressed, he always finds fault with something. My "injector" was a retired former director of the nursing school, let me tell you, her delivery was flawless.
Isn't it rather pathetic that this was the most people I have seen in a year? I was excited! Much like going to an amusement park. Everybody was happy, talking, smiling. It is a good sign.
