Our December Tea

Good morning and hello and Merry Christmas to all. Lola and I wanted to share our tea cookie! The photo's for the post are from Aiken House and Garden because my space is a disaster. I am doing as much as possible to empty the kitchen for the workers for the re-do. I may share some in-progress posts along the way, if my sanity remains! We will probably take the next week or so off to get the work done. So, take care, be well, God bless.
As early Winter settles in, a light dusting of snow brings an almost magical quality to our scenery. A study of mostly whites, we can clearly see how so many artists and decorators use this palette to create fine pieces. Some of us collect milk white glass, some white fabrics, while others just admire the beauty of the contrasts.

A recent podcast reminded me of how we each take our Tea Times differently. Most often my afternoon respite is a simple cup of tea, rarely any sweet and certainly not a small meal as defined in Victorian Tea Society! Nibbles, maybe some fruit or a cracker or two can be a fine substitute mostly because most of us have our dinner before 8 or 9 pm! In those times, tea dress was an event, then resting, then dressing for dinner. Too much for me and quite frankly we all know that only a small segment of English society lived this way. In Victorian times, poverty and stress were a normal course of life for most. However, the fantasy of fine living is what we are considering.

Tea time in these photos is a casual affair in a sun room on a Wintery day. A white them here is a peaceful retreat.

For our Monthly December Tea we will step it up a bit. In our quilting group, our holiday tea was an event in years past. Let us capture that feeling, that joy, that friendship this month whether you are with family or in a comfy chair in your sun room. Life goes on, despite current restrictions we will come out on the other side of this and just think how much we will appreciate simple pleasures like a holiday tea with like-minded friends!
