Just Do It, Just Start.....

Good Morning Stitching Friends! Can you believe we are into mid-November already? Our Thanksgiving Holiday is right around the corner. Of course, it will likely be very different this year, but we have so much to be thankful for that in and of itself, that thankfulness needs to translate to our outlook for the future.

My friends from all over the world are thinking the same thing. The pandemic has affected some, well many, of us to stagnate a bit. Theories abound but I have recently seen a famous quote that surely applies to more creatives than me. "A completed quilt is better than a perfect quilt."

Just do it is the synopsis there I think. The creative process is fraught with missteps and  pit falls if we permit it. So, as per Kathy Hay (seamstress extraordinaire) something is better than nothing? Right?

"Too many people end up doing nothing because they fear they cannot do it perfectly.Take a project this weekend and just do it, don't worry about finishing it right off, just start. "

This week I've got a message that's going to be a bit unexpected coming from me... Usually I'm a proponent of going all out and doing your absolute best at absolutely everything, but the reality is that you can't do everything perfectly all the time. Sometimes life gets in the way, or priorities conflict. So what do you do when conditions are less than ideal? Well, that's the kind of the week I've had myself... and here's what I did about it. Oonagh Duncan on Instagram: @oonaghduncan Oonagh's unconventional healthy living book "Healthy as F*ck" can be found wherever good books are sold, (not my language by the way) but here's the Amazon link with all the reviews... https://www.amazon.com/Healthy-Habits..
Preparing for naptime, that is Lola's creative process. And that pillow? Might be a muncher...not!

So, you ask, what did she do today that stretched her creative habits? Well, for more years than I can ever remember, my MIL made a Pistachio cake that was everyone's favorite. I have mentioned before that her recipe and my copy as well are lost to the world. So, I have scanned every recipe site in the Google archives looking for the recipe. I have made at least 10 cakes in the last couple months, none of them quite right. Well, with testing, experimenting, etc. my Son tells me the one I made today is IT!

This is it, it doesn't look so good in the picture but all who tested it gave it the OK. So, I will get that recipe onto Kitchen Chronicles ASAP if you are interested. Per request, mine has a bit of chocolate, well actually quite a bit of chocolate!
