Tea Time, The First Day of Fall 2020

The Hydrangea or starting to look pretty sad today. This one was a last minute capture.

As we enter the first day of Fall in the Northern Hemisphere, the chilled morning air as well as the breaking sun over the horizon reminds me of just how much I enjoy the changing seasons. My life seems to revolve around the weather shifts, the signals of nature, and how I face the day. In Summer Lola and I spend a bit of time on the back porch enjoying the birds, squirrels and other wild life that visit. She thrills with the sound of an airplane, follows its track across the sky until it is out of her sight. A perfect time for meditation and planning the day, those early mornings evolve to a modified version as the air chills. I add multiple layers of sweaters and coats and scarfs all wrapped around my head and neck. We are a sight! She loves the cold, I do not.

Tea time today is a quick cup on the run! I am cleaning out China closets, what was I thinking? I have two lovely, pain in the neck to keep untarnished silver sets. I am very fond of them, they are reminants of my "Victorian Phase" in the 1990's. I am not ready to pass them on yet so, I polish. Fingers to the bone people, fingers to the bone.

Today the Potato Leek Soup is on the menu, Kitchen Chronicles, HERE.

Same recipe, different cooker. (I burn through pressure cooker/slow cookers like a knife through hot butter!) This one is the Rolls Royce of cookers, really. It has many pro's, no con's so far.

I moved my favorite rocking chair indoors this year. It hasn't weathered very well, I added cushions to protect tender bones. It is good but not at all conducive to needlework. Good grief. It is like trying to balance an egg on a spoon while riding a motorcycle. This will not work long term. Now I need to find a chair, comfortable that will not permit my spine to twist out of its normal twisted position. This getting old thing is not much fun.

A fig tree posted by an e-friend. She remarked of its beauty, the abundant figs, the fruit full of ants. Like life these days, the good and the bad, the ugly, all at the same time. fig tree

Oh no I forgot to order my fig tree! Must check on that today.

My brother uses Maas cream for cleaning and protecting, he claims it prohibits tarnishing and cleans easily. I know nothing.

My favorite easy on the bones chair is my spring chair. Gentle bouncing and mesh that conforms. I do get carried away sometimes and bounce a little too much.
