Monday, Monday...In Complicated Times, We Stitch!

From green to red, the march of color will commence soon.

A new week begins while we see and sense the change of seasons. Nesting Season is bittersweet but seasonal change does guide my creative spirit. How will we experience the best of the season? My plan is to take a few day trips, in the car with a picnic lunch. A road trip is a way to expand our current limited horizons while maintaining our own safety.

My current, sort of portable project. This little hoop-stand has its benefits. It is small, the base sits well on a table or even in lap. The negatives are few.
This little screw clamp just barely holds the hoop but so far it hasn't fallen off. Give me some time though!
The side posts slide along this track to adjust for different size hoops. The little box there is a Polish carved piece I picked up in Niagra-on-the-Lake, Ontario about  35 years ago. I use it to hold extra needles. I glued a little magnet mat on the bottom of the base.

This is one of those practice pieces I am playing with before I finally start Jane Fiddes, HATS sew along. I have a bit of a blah going on. I am picking motifs and alphabets from different charts. The alphabet here came from Marly of Samplers and Santas Blog, HERE. There are several charming free patterns there, just right for me.

Embroidery-Stand-Hoop-Wood-Cross-Stitch-Hoop-Ring-Frame-Adjustable-Sewing-ToolsThe whole picture. Now, I bought this on Ebay. I thought it was a states-side retailer. Wrong, it is shipped from China, took 5-6 weeks. Essentially no communication on tracking until the end of the time period and I just checked it is now $48.92, but hold on, shipping is free. I paid a few dollars less than that. So my conclusion is, you can do better elsewhere. Don't you just love online shopping?
  • I should not complain, so many others worldwide are having a difficult time with this whole Covid business. Basic supplies are short for some and I am moaning about a cheappie wooden hoop stand!
  • Areas in the UK are again going into total lock-down due to rapid spread of the virus, again. Many needle workers are stocking up on supplies for the Winter ahead. With the delay in shipping of this piece, it might be a good idea to gather in anything we think we may need as well. Not to hoard, mind, but to kit up our projects for months of seculusion.
  • If you have the chance, there is a new offering on PBS, Lucy Worsley's Royal Palace Secrets. Featured is the Tower of London, Hampton Court and Kensington Palace. Divine textiles are featured, history of each residence and a good dose of Lucy humor! It will likely re-air sometime next week.
A window on the world. Let us keep our eye on the good in the world, keep on stitching.
