This one by Julia Gahagan, is an adaption of the style shown in the video. The video examples are amazing. |
Who doesn't have a collection of little bits? Well, I managed to find time to sort through some saved TV programs and Quilting Arts showed this amazing quilt made with tiny fused scraps for little houses. Originally airing Feb. 2019, I am totally smitten with the Alpine Quilt. It is the first segment of the video.
HERE.
There are times when we need to amp-up our quilting patterns. By hand or machine, these little touches can change a nice quilt to a great one. By adding dimension, as above, we can accomplish just that. Particularly if this to be a decorative piece, a wall hanging, a table covering, or an item that will not be worn and washed, this type of needle work can really make the items pop with a contrasting or decorative thread.
- For many of us, our time with needle and thread is what we use to
distract ourselves from the world around us. As we concentrate on each
stitch before us and the meditative push and pull of needle and thread
through fabric, it’s perhaps one of the few places we’re able to quiet
our minds, silence our inner voice and forget the ever-growing To Do
List that exists in our ‘real’ lives. (Inspirations Newsletter)
- May your weekend be safe and joyful with the familiarity of your thread, needle, and thimble. See you Tuesday for Teatime. We will be making a nice moist pumpkin bread and experimenting with the Pain de Mie.
- This weekend the last of the Summer blooms will be culled. While I thoroughly enjoy the colors of Fall, this activity is like the period at the end of a sentence. I am really not ready, but time marches on. Toodles.
