She's Here, Jane Fiddes, 1835-Hands Across the Sea Samplers

Ladies and Gentlemen, a moment of reflection. Jane has arrived. She has traveled the high seas, she has been all over the world.

I can relax now, well sort of. Shall I explain? When I bought this pattern and the silks as well as the linen there were serious issues in the shipping process from foreign countries because of the Covid business. That said, now that she is here, 6+ weeks later,  she was sold as a kit.

The photo of the fabric looked quite acceptable. The silks I ordered were not available and a substitute was offered...per the shop owner..."the colors are  really close." It was those silks or none, I went with those.

I don't like the linen in the kit, very dark brownish. I ordered another piece. I am having trouble uploading photos, please bear with me. Have a nice weekend.
  • as I mentioned in a prior post, I will not use this vendor again. The linen is not even close to the picture. I think it was likely a left-over, not selling, so kit it up!
  • the linen I chose was a high-quality piece, on eBay, half the price I might add.
  • The silks are beautiful, they are "close" to the Au ver a soie. They are NPI. (as soon as I fix the upload problem I will show.)
  • I need to go buy a new chair. The one I usually use when stitching is killing my back. Let the search begin. This bottom will be all over Allegheny County, probably Westmoreland too.
  • My final decision was this: This project is highly anticipated, will take a year, and was quite pricey to kit out. I will change the linen and hope for the best. It is due to arrive July3rd, the project starts July 4th, will I have time to grid the fabric?????? Who is cooking 4th of July barbeque, NOT ME!
