I'm looking for a place like this. Simple, secluded, peaceful.
So
sorry for the lapse. It has been a week but I'm back on track now, I
think. You know, when things that ache and pain start to ache and pain more? Well, that was my recent experience but after some minor oral surgery, I am on the mend and hope to be fine by tomorrow. I have photo's in the queue to share, I have ideas spilling from my wee brain, I
just need to commit them to paper.
Do
we ever realize how our modern conveniences become so expected that we barely notice them until they are gone? So here's the story there. I
need to make a decision about a kitchen re-do. I absolutely hate being torn up. Hate it. The last time we did this I was so irritated I left,
lived at the cottage 3 hours away and hoped for the best. The kitchen turned out fine, but the workers ate me out of house and home. I told the workers to help themselves but it got a bit carried away I think.
The microwave takes two hands to open now, one to pull the handle, one to hold the bottom of the door so the glass stays in place. The dishwasher racks are held together with zip ties. The stove is on its last legs.
The burners take forever to heat and have hot spots. Since the little fire when the pressure cooker bumped into the burner knob and set the place afire, that burner is kaput. That was in March. I don't like to rush into things anymore. The oven, well,
nice storage. The fridge was measured and chosen by someone other than me. Too small, odd rack distribution, etc. So, I looked at some, can't decide. Get out the Gorilla tape honey, bought nothing.
And then the kitchen sink leaked, an indoor pool I had, waders required. Repaired by wonderful plumber man the next day. Back in business on that front.
Sooo, no sewing, minimal needlework, way behind on just about everything but that's OK. We are hanging in.
- To
my surprise, a blogger from some years ago has returned. She is inspiring and inventive. Also creative. The name of the blog is
Strangers and Pilgrims on Earth, HERE! Give it a look if you are also looking for calm and peace.
- A new book, in the queue. The Jane Austin Society.
- Shaved to the bone, her hair has come back in since this photo. She still won't speak to me for the offense.
