The Embroidery Threads, I know, but a girl needs her Thread. |
Have you ever heard of a Victorian Tear Catcher?
A little history to explore the mourning in Victorian times and the myths. I had never heard of such an item. Pretty, delicate, mysterious, these little collector's items have a bit of charm.

Escapism, I think this study is an opportunity to escape, for just a bit.
- Escape! I have taken on the 30 Craft Room Challenge and it is quite a task. So far I have one corner of the room totally, clean, sorted, and arranged. This involved tossing some old thread, if it breaks with a pull, it was gone. Sadly, much of it was pricey Rayon that I bought to go with my first embroidery machine. My thread is stored in closed drawers with no exposure to light and dust and yet, we had discards.
- I have cleaned and disassembled three machines, oiled the ones that are to be oiled (after waiting for a new oil shipment because my original container leaked all over a drawer holding 12 new spools of Isacord thread. Yikes, you would not have wanted to be there that day!) while doing the lint dust out in the others. *I clean the bobbin case in every machine after each project. LINT!
- Multiple threads that were waiting to go to their homes after a project and other new ones that never got home found their places.
- Scissors, oh the scissors. My dilemma here is that I like to keep a collection of essentials at each work station. That includes the embroidery machine and the serger, the long-arm quilting machine, the ironing board, and the multi-use table that holds a serger, a cover stitch, a vintage Singer or two at any given time. In addition, that table has a large cutting mat and on occasion, I use it for the Accuquilt cutter. So that space needs a diverse collection of tools.
- Magnetic bolt dishes from Harbor Freight are the answer. The magnets are stronger than the typical magnetic pin cushion, the bowl shape captures items easily, and because they are so shiny, I can see them in a minute.
- Screw Drivers! All types and all sizes. What to do? For now, I gathered them all into one drawer in a tabletop storage cabinet. I will get one when I need it and try not to let them sit around and pile up.
