This and That for April

My view of the day. Now don't laugh, it has been worse...much, much worse ❤ My sewing space is in a windowless room in the basement. Every inch is in use. Here you see the current 9 patch project and the fabrics I pulled for the Hello Darling quilt. I use my wool pressing mat all the time. That iron is an old fashioned steam iron, it is perfect for this application. Even every inch under the desk is occupied.

Needed supplies these days arrive with the postman. It is a bit of a hassle not to be able to just pop out and run to the shop. Thankfully, we have online shopping, right?

Gearing up for some patriotic projects!

To add to the blues for that project, I am almost there. A scrappy looking quilt needs lots of fabric choices, right? Well, that's what I've heard!

So here we are, Winter, is supposedly over and we have bits and pieces of yarn leftover from our scarves, hats, etc. What to do? What to do?

An eye opener!
  • What I'm reading now. Have you seen any of the televisions series, PBS or BBC about putting modern families into a Victorian home and providing the Victorian living experience?  While it all sounds a bit glamorous at first, one quickly learns it was a bit difficult! Jennifer Scott, of The Madame Chic series of books, recommended this one. Learning about the little nuances of Victorian life from the poor souls in service to an upper-class family and their daily life is fascinating. This little book opens a door to that.

  • On the menu this Sunday, Cornish Game Hen, garlic mash, steamed asparagus and a wee chocolate cake. One has to keep up the strength, yes. Be well, keep hope, keep in touch!
