One of my favorite flowers, the Foxglove. |
As we wait, patiently or not, Spring is right around the corner. I see the greening of the underbrush in my wooded areas. A few little May Apples popping up and more Dandelions than should be legal! But they are beautiful, in a weedy way.
I have mourned the loss of some of my favorite trees. The giant Blue Spruce that has graced my Western side lawn for 47 years was stricken last year by the nasty beetle bug that stripped its beautiful branches from top to bottom. 70 feet high, it was a challenge for the tree cutters, I could not watch. I didn't want to see it fall and be hauled away. All that is left now is a huge scar on the lawn.

On the Eastern end of the terraced edge of the lawn were three trees, all destroyed by the blight. They were only about 35 feet tall, nestled into the hillside, a haven for the baby deer during inclement weather, their little stumps are reminder s of many years past. They were planted when our house was build in 1974. Lucy and I walked there every day.

Several other trees had to be topped off because they were so tall and threatened to crash into the house in a storm.
- Ready or not, Time marches. I never thought I could be so attached to a tree.
- I received an envelope, in the mail. It was empty. It was an Amazon envelope and they have no idea what it was. Even though I have given the order number and the tracking number. A mystery.
- I have realized that once you answer an Amazon question they keep sending people to you to comment or answer a question on products you have purchased? I have had at least 10 questions about how to order the acrylic extension sewing machine table! Today, someone asked if I would measure my cover stitch machine to see how much bigger the shipping box was. Oh my. I tossed the box ages ago. The virtual age, it has its moments.
