A quick glance out the dining room window and all looks the same. One would never know we are living in isolation here? So here we go, day 2 in the Sewtopia Isolation Journal. Since I cut the blocks on the Accuquilt Cutter, 6 layers at a time if I remember correctly, I was ready to sew my strings! |
My workbox for the Hello Darling quilt project. I started to string piece these 9 patch blocks components in sessions of one hour or so. That's about my time limit right now but it is productive.
Sample Blocks, I need to make samples. While many fabrics look good uncut, sometimes the finished block looks out of kilter. Sometimes they just don't call to me, you know? That is why I have lots of "orphan blocks" in the collection that eventually get used or cut up into other projects.
These are happy little blocks. They remind me of Summer quilts made by my husband's grandmother.

4 blocks, these are together but I plan to separate the blocks by 1/2 triangles, I think. |
- I have another 6-inch finish 9 patch quilt that I alternated each block with a 6-inch block in a coordinating print. I think this one will alternate with 1/2 squares or even a scrambled 9 patch. Again, more samples will be made and tested. You would think I was building a nuclear reactor!
- Tomorrow just sew the strings and press!
- Flying geese, half squares? Do you often see quilt squares in everything?

I'm writing all the plans down here. |

Command Central, the books, the notebooks, the notes! |
- I made chicken and dumplings today. A very comfort-food type of meal.
- I threw away my favorite shoes. It was difficult. They have stretched at least 2 sizes, they were torn. I have walked many house miles in those shoes. Actually, I had the husband do it, I couldn't. They were 7 years old, worn every day as house shoes.
- I am reminded today of how many wonderful and thoughtful friends and family I have. As I read and cherish each sympathy card I am reminded that I need to be better at this. A new goal.
