A This and That Post

The Present: Meet Haze, my Bonsai Yew. I bought him at the gift shop at Phipps Conservatory. He has grown by leaps and bounds because he resides next to my Aero Garden full of herbs. I trimmed him yesterday. Not such a good look. Hope I didn't kill him. Film at 11!

The Past: The Buckeye Sewing Machine, c 1867
The future: A new project with old friends, a Round Robin of Whitework.

Well, this has been a bit of a week, hasn't it? Seriousness aside, I keep trying to think positive and that translates to thread and needle. Planning and gathering supplies for each project is a productive way to spend this time as we shelter-in-place, reconnect with family, and cook!

I have always cooked and occasionally we eat out but this is a great time to re-visit quality, low fat, low sodium meals. Remind me to reinforce that to my son who considers the drive-thru fast-food spot a way of life in his busy schedule. I find it interesting, though not totally unpredicted, that the kid who was allowed very little in the fast-food genre considers it a separate food group. In his first semester freshman year at college, he went through his entire semester's food credits at the quick spots on campus in less than a month.  Nearing age 50 I may not be able to influence him, right?

As always, my public service messages ring more true than ever but I had to smile at one of the "experts" on a news show was telling people to wash all their clothes with bleach. Ha, seriously, has this dude ever done laundry, does he know what bleach does to colors? I rest my case. Gather a bunch of women who have washed clothes, know how to repair them and can cook something at the same time, we can handle this. Stitch on.
