You Show Me Yours, I'll Show You Mine...or something like that!

This is right inside the door, a staging area of sorts. Notice all the books and magazines I have sorted fo look for new ideas! The toy on top of the stack on the left needs its arm reattached. This is the best part, right here. It is much worse as we go!

I had to chuckle the other day. On one of my favorite sewing sites, the group was sharing photos of their post-Christmas studio conditions. Well, let us just say mine was not the worst, it was almost at the end of the spectrum but not the worst! For that I was grateful. This is an honest representation, I did not clean up anything before I took the photos. I am embarrassed but there you have it.
For the first time in months, I was able to fire up the Coronet. It was a bumpy ride. First, when I re-threaded the top tension was a bit off. After two more tries, the stitches looked better. However, my attempt at doing regulated stitching to doodle-stitch was a disaster. There was un-sewing, quite a bit of it actually. It looked dreadful. So I re-read the manual and decided to go back to free motion. It is what I do best.
Clutter? Shall we talk clutter? I neglected to photograph under the quilt frame, it has several of the large drawer units and several of the rolling cart variety storage systems. They are all full, to the brim. Further along that wall you see the bookshelves, in disarray. Two IKEA carts with patterns, Accuquilt dies, tubes of interfacing and stabilizer that will no longer fit in the over-the-door keeper.
Here we see the back counter with stacks of drawers holding thread, the Ovation serger, underneath are four storage carts, a felting machine, and rolls of batting. In front is the back of Destiny. On the right are marking tools, drawer units with needles, bobbins, extra feet for Destiny, workboxes, a couple irons and a wool press pad, thread, lots of thread. In the front are task boxes with their contents ready for the next project. I wrapped Christmas gifts on this table so you will see wrapping paper etc not yet tucked away for next year. There is also a box of two Christmas projects that did not get done.  I will spend one day next week putting things away. All this visual clutter drives me nuts.
Here we have an old dishwasher basket used to store cutters of all kinds, another serger, lots of serging thread, a cover stitch machine, Halloween panels that will be for next year and a stack of polka-dotted fat quarters. Who can resist something like that? There is no room in the drawers below, not an inch.

Here we see the bobbin winder for the Coronet, another file cabinet, and junk.
Here you can see the door on the left that leads to a walk-in closet, entirely outfitted with garment fabric. I was listening to television while I worked. And now we are back in the doorway. I have an over-the-door ironing board on the closet door. It is too small, but better than putting the big one up in an already stuffed space.
  • The ugly truth I fear. One day this week I will put away the wrapping paper etc. I will separate the task boxes with the unfinished Christmas projects and put them away. On the whiteboard, at the entrance to the room, I will write myself a note, for July to remind me what they are and where they are. Don't laugh, by July I will not remember.
  • I also want to spend some time piecing batting leftovers. After a few projects, I like to do that. I have used up all my pieced ones from the last stitch-up so it is time to do it again.
  • I have a need to make some tea wallets and tea cozies for some friends. I usually use the insulated batting for tea cozies, placemats and pot holders but sometimes I add some regular batting as well. Those small pieces of warm and natural will get a purpose!
The first Monday of the New Year in a New Decade holds great promise, doesn't it?  Like every year before it, 2020 will hold its good and bad moments. Being organized, planning my projects and using all sorts of inspiration from friends, from media etc. is my goal. I am documenting my work and plans, of course, I am a consumate journal-er! This season I was gifted a Perpetual Calendar Planner. It is from Bonnie Hunter. Thank You!
That's all for now, have a great day, a great week and a productive 2020!

I think you have more sewing gear than I do, but yours is more tidy, I'll not be showing my sewing space until it's under control. Yikes!!
