Littles on Thursday. Little lights brighten Sewtopia at this time of year. We have been having unseasonably cold weather this year. With that comes overcast skies that shadow every corner of our home. Living in the woods has distinct advantages and some elements that I counteract with little lights. I just love pops of light in corners and on tables etc. I call them Happy Lights! This one is about 30 years old. It is metal, burnished in a primitive mustard color. A candle-stick design, I added this little burlap shade a couple years ago to change the look. It is perched on a wooden box to make it a little higher. Both were purchased at the Shaker Woods Festival about 25 years apart!
Speaking of littles I want to share a project done by my Quilty Friend, Terri. As always her talents reach far beyond quilting as do most of my Quilty Friends. Everything from knitting, crochet, spinning yarn beading and painting this group of ladies inspire me regularly.
This little beauty is one of Terri's latest purse/bag projects. It is sturdy with a support backing. That cute little ruched panel is a glorious crush velvet. What a great idea! The contrast makes this unique in the purse world. I am not so good at this and haven't tried for some time. I have a plan to share in the future. If I get time to work on it.
I have mentioned in the past that many quilters, like myself, need smaller projects to complete to accomplish something, anything. Our quilts are so time-consuming that we falter and often languish in the process. I am working on a loom knitting project right now that I will share soon. I find that these little things, no matter what they are, bolster the artistic spirit.

While this bag is smaller in size than our typical quilting project, it is still lots of work. (to me anyway) |
