The Monday Quilt, A Machine Embroidery Quilting Program

In recent years quilting has taken several new directions. One of the most interesting is using your embroidery embroidery machine to quilt using digitized patterns. From the most simple stipple to more complicated designs, your machine takes the quilting process to another level.
The programmed designs are a little hard to see here but they are there! Black is difficult to photograph.
The founder of Amelie Scott Designs, Christine Connor, is a talented and ingenious person who recognized the possibilities of embroidery machines after paying a long-arm quilter to finish her pieced tops.

Early embroidery machines had limited capabilities as far as the size of the digitized design styles. Now, however, technology has expanded the possibilities and depending on how advanced your machine is there are designs to fit many needs.

Each of the major manufacturers has a top of the line machine and usually several smaller machines with smaller computers to do the job nicely. As technology advances, and this happens quickly, the manufacturers and designers will fashion more and more digitized designs that can be used specifically for quilting your layers.

I just attended an event, sponsored by Gloria Horn Sewing Studios, where Christine presented her techniques and designs.  We were treated to many amazing samples and the opportunity to purchase designs that we would like to try. In the sewing world (IMO) these items are reasonably priced.

I have stitched out some of these designs in recent years and picked up a few new ones to add to my library. For this sewing event we used the outstanding top-of-the-line Baby Lock Solaris. Much like the Destiny II, I had a great time practicing the new features of this machine. If you had not sewn on a machine like this I think you might have been a bit overwhelmed but Gloria and her staff were available to everyone for assistance. One of the best events she has sponsored.

Now I want you to look at the "binding" on this panel. This is a new technique developed by Evie Hawkins. It is genius, particularly for something like this. As soon as I do a bit more research I will present it here.
  • Gloria's staff spend days and days preparing 136 of these quilt panels in their finished, assembled state for each atendee to practice the machine quilting technique. Now, that is an outstanding sponsor.
  • This all day event was a combined lecture, presentation and quilting venue. Just right in content and length along with a wonderful lunch and afternoon snack of fruit, vege, yogurt, granola and cookies! The Meadows Casino is an outstanding venue for such an event. (this is not an advertisement...remember I take NO compensation from anyone for anything )
