Quilts on Monday, a Collaborative Effort!

I mentioned a few days ago that I had a sweet little quilt to share. This quilt is one of those "Island" quilts made by Mary Jane from The Ladies of the Cloth.

One of the distinct advantages of belonging to a group that quilts is the giving and sharing among members. This group has been going strong for a couple decades and lots of fabric and quilt blocks have been gifted among members.

This is a perfect example of such sharing. Betty Jane is a prolific quilter and her work is always beautiful. Some time ago she gifted Mary Jane these blocks and she then assembled them to make this quilt that will be given to the local quilt guild for their annual October service project.

Mary Jane is a master of using what is on hand to create something special. Her vision has been demonstrated several times in recent months. Do you remember the isolette cover quilts? You can read about them HERE!
Terri felted a little pumpkin!!!

Making a beautiful quilt from your bits and pieces is such a rewarding venture. With increasing focus on fabric, fabric manufacturing and fabric dying as well as waste within the industry this type of use checks off many boxes for protecting our environment. BBC runs a regular series about ways that other countries are trying to remodel their process to conform.
  • If you have extra fabric, unwanted fabric, sample blocks etc. please find a way to share or donate them for someone else to fashion. It is a good thing.
  • I am always awed by those efficient people who buy only what they need, have little or no waste while being creative and productive.
