An inspirational little mat shown on Facebook from Quilters Digest. I think this color combination is just right for a rustic type of decor style. Any combination of batiks, geometric prints or solids would make this little mat fit in different surroundings.

I Know of no quilter who does have scrap pieces. Everything from leftover Jelly Rolls to strips of fabric trimmed off the backing.

  • Start a scrap collection system so that you can make little mats like this in a jiffy.
  • Have a scrap exchange with your quilt guild or friends to mix up your collection.
  • Bonnie Hunter's motto: no matter how ugly the fabric, if you cut it up in little pieces it will blend well!
