Mary Jane Is On The Island!

A Vintage Quilt shared by Kay, August 2018, now in a museum in Texas.
Some years ago, when I was invited to join the Sew and Sew Quilting Group I was excited to see how these lovely ladies interpret and fashion their work. At that time we were 99% quilt oriented. Since then we have evolved to include many other needle crafts as reflected by new members, new directions for service projects as well as the evolution of the quilting arts in and of itself.

We have shared our makes, our "tossers" our lives and our tribulations. This is what makes this little neighborhood group cohesive. Our name has sort of evolved as a result of these shifts in direction. We are now The Ladies of the Cloth, a name coined by Linda Sue to better reflect our direction.

Early on the phrase..."on the island" became a catch phrase for using up the stash! Many of use have been on the island quite a while, maybe with a brief trip to shore now and then!๐Ÿ˜ Mary Jane is an island girl for sure and she recently shared several little quilt tops that will be isolette covers after quilting by the local Linus Chapter.

By using these sweet juvenile fabrics Mary Jane has combine each and enhanced each pattern with the chosen lay out. How cute is this?

These squares, each five inch cuts and the alternating blocks are five inch blocks cut in half make a delightful combination for the red, white and blues here and those little Dalmatian blocks, well, who doesn't like a Dalmatian? The "dotted" fabric might be the last of Kay's donated polka dot fabric as well!

Popsicles, Popsicles, Popsicles...enough said!

A Popsicle of a different color is a Popsicle Quilt in a different color๐Ÿ˜ƒ

And last but not least, the Amphibians in the pond.

  • Charming, right? See how much you can accomplish when you just jump in to a project Corinne?
  • Each of these little quilts finish at 36 x 36.
  • A first color experience for newborns thanks to Mary Jane.
