Today we admire another beauty made by Ladies of the Cloth member, Rose. As always her designs and sense of color always make me smile.
Now isn't this a happy little finish? The colors blend with harmony and light, using the white contrast defines the pattern and permits the not-yellow blocks to blend seamlessly.
In short order Rose is learning to master the elements of her sit-down mid-arm quilter!
Much like doodling with needle and thread, this type of quilting is more and more popular.
Here she fills the space so well, not as easy as some might think. Controlling the stitch length while turning corners and rounding out a pattern takes practice.
Kitting brings up the back, always watchful and warm.
  • A sit-down mid-arm machine is a wonderful way to learn this type of machine quilting. Because you have 14 to 16 inches of throat space on these machines (depending on brand) the quilter has much more room to move and leverage the quilt into pattern.
  • Dense quilting is fun to do but one must take care not to quilt so densely that the finished product is stiff and difficult to drape. Keep the quilting balanced throughout and use a good batting to support those dense stitches.
  • Rose is a very skilled quilter. Her work is always colorful and fun. Using new and vintage fabrics add great variety to her patterns.
