The Last of the Attic Quilts, For Now!

Another Attic Quilt. This one is distinctive for a couple reasons. First, it is made with some polyester brocades. They had access to some fabric sample books. And all the brocades are one of two types of weave but in different color ways.

These are parsed with random cottons. The blocks are not exactly the same size, some are a bit "off."

Second, this is the first quilt that I believe had the " fancy new " polyester batting that emerged in the local shops in the 1960's.. All their prior quilts had flannel blankets for filling. The back is an Asian theme fabric, one piece. this quilt would fit a twin size bed with a full drop side. It is machine pieced and hand quilted as most are.
If nothing else I might have learned a lesson about quilt finishing. There is not one label on any of their quilts. Again, these were utility quilts, used, washed until thread bare, then another was pulled from the trunks in the attic. A simple and unhurried life. The work and rhythm of their life marched in time with the seasons. From quilting to gardening to religious holidays. A life I have been seeking for a long time. I am not alone.
