Project Linus and the Ladies of the Cloth

Betty Jane, #1, 6 inch finished squares top with a cute juvenile theme combined with coordinating fabrics.

On any given day ladies who sew/quilt are using their skills and resources to support various charities. Our Tuesday gathering group, The Ladies of the Cloth, are no exception. I have shared many projects here but today I want to highlight the Project Linus project. In 1995 this project was formed and have delivered over 7 million blankets since that time on the local and national level. This Mission Statement from their website breifly explains their purpose.
  • First Provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”
  • Second Provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.
My quilting friend, Betty Jane from The Ladies of the Cloth shared these two finished tops this week. The tops are then passed on to the ladies who gather locally, once a month, to layer and quilt. It is a project of fellowship and sharing.

She completed another top, in the same pattern, as well.
Betty Jane, #2, a kitty theme!

Linus collectes many type of blankets from fleece tied to crochet and quilted. Many Quilt Guilds supply fabric to support the project. The need is diverse from isolette covers to lap quilts and premie gowns etc. I have provided two links to better inform you and list all the accepted patterns required.
