May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

In the world of quilting and sewing sharing the products of our skills is second nature. I have mentioned some of the service work done by our Tuesday Ladies of the Cloth Group as well as the Three Rivers Quilt Guild. The work is shared by many as we stitch away. We have partnered with a local church again this year to construct feminine hygiene supplies for some ladies in Kenya. Using soft flannel fabrics we assemble these items to be delivered by a church member during one of their mission trips.
The ladies that sew arrived with their machines and hummed away for a few hours. When the job is prepared in advance (by member Mary Jane)  each group is assigned a task and we work in an assembly line fashion.

Turning the pieces and poking out the seams and pressing them flat is part of that process. We completed 80 items except for the last step in one morning. Several members took those items home
to finish.   You can see by the smiles that a good time was had by all. As usual, we are using a room in a church that generously permits us to meet and work there. Thank You.

  • We will wrap up the project next week. It is hard to fathom in this day and age that young women do not have access to disposable products.
  • Spring is officially here, will someone please tell Pennsylvania?
****I have noticed on some computers the photo's are disappearing, so sorry, working on a fix!
