The Week to Lift The Winter Blah's-Editorial Points with a Needlework Focus-#3

Remember this one? Part of my Vintage quilt collection, this one was appliqued and quilted entirely by hand. Can you imagine how much light was needed to make all these tiny and invisible stitches. Yes, quilters need good light.

Today let's go back and consider Light. Good lighting is essential for every one who does any kind of needlework. Our sewing machines need good lighting over the work area so that we can see what we are doing and the quality of the stitch. A task light for handwork in your comfy chair makes all that thread and fabric pop and not to discount mood lighting, who doesn't like a cozy little light tucked here and there....particularly at this time of year, in the dregs of Winter. If you like candle light, real or artificial, indulge a bit. Even thought the days are getting longer and we will soon return to Daylight Savings Time, we have a way to go.

Let there be light, you light up my life, the light at the end of the tunnel....we could go on and on about how important Light is to our stitching life. Take care of yourself on this cold and cloudy Winters day, turn on some lights. And remember to turn on the lights of your heart to help light up the world.
