The Week to Lift The Winter Blah's-Editorial Points with a Needlework Focus-#2

A fast flowing creek in Cooks Forest, the perfect "break" for me!
Planning your next long weekend, vacation or retreat can open our dreary-weather stained souls to lift the blahs! Many of us plan our "life-pauses" I call them. Be it a weekend, a week, or longer, a little break in the day to day routine certainly does inspire us to reach beyond the dull and dreary last days of Winter. The Spring wait seems interminable at times, but it is coming, this I know.

How does this correlate to the Sewist? In so many ways I think. For each of my trips I plan at least one carry along project to fill the rest times with something productive. Not one to just watch television in the evenings, I need something to keep my hands busy. In that vein I am fortunate because I take my home with me when I travel, having a motor home give me an advantage to do this without ceremony.

As we rumble along country roads, John Denver is in my head and I am studying the effects of color and light and shadow. I am thinking of ways to translate this into the work I am considering, I am thinking of where to go next. It is often a quilt shop or a yarn shop. Husband is most accommodating in this. He likes to drive, I like to shop, Lola just likes to go.
 Take me home, Country roads.......................
This means I am planning my personal retreats in February. There are many high quality camp grounds in this country and reservations and planning is required to secure your spot in the larger scheme of things.  I am hoping to take a big trip this year, we will see and attempt to plan all this around family situations. Just thinking of a quilt shop in Amana, Iowa or Missouri has given me a boost.
Miss Lola-Lala is much bigger this season, we will need to reconsider our restraints and crate needs. She is a sweetie, we are ready to go!
