My Kind of Town-Small Business Day, November 24, 2018-Tomorrow!!1

I am fortunate to live in the southern suburbs of a great city. Fortunate in the sense that while I may have dairy cows or sheep across the street grazing and fulfilling my "sense of the country," I am also a quick drive to the city for my Opera, Ballet and Symphony. In addition we have three national sports teams. There is always something to do here.

Three was a time when we had several large department stores as well as exclusive shopping venue's. That has changed. They have all abandoned the city for the suburbs. That is a story in itself.

Tucked away within the tall buildings are multiple small businesses. As you venture out to the 'burbs the small business owner is alive and well. Mostly. So, today, please take time to support your local business. Those little quilt shops, the sewing machine dealers, the grocers and specialty gift shops, etc. They need our business to remain a strong component of our culture.
  • Most small business establishments have sales and specials this day. Make sure to check that out!
  • Please remember to thank the owner and staff for their continued hard work to keep that business alive and well.
  • Have fun, many within the city shopping areas are holding little thank you events for their customers. Check you local paper or online resources for particulars.
