Do you remember this? I called it the Charm Jumble. |
Here she is ready to be basted. Now, please be kind and remember that these squares and strips are not consistent in size. They are left overs and some trimmed pieces that needed a purpose. I needed a scrap picnic quilt. I started this during the 2018 Winter Olympics, it is now the end of May. I don't like to rush things, know what I mean? Finally on the Coronet waiting to be quilted. Nothing fancy here, Just enough to hold the layers together, to get my muscle memory back into quilting gear and work on my timing etc. It has been months since I used this machine and as soon as I started stitching she was getting away from me. I am glad that I have a practice piece before I work on Sister III from last Summer. I remove the pins as I advance the quilt. I need that extra IKEA light to see the stitching better. HELLO THERE! Just what happened here? I was removing some irregular stitches that happened right after I put in a new bobbin. That happens sometimes then the tension goes wonky and the upper thread snaps. So, re-thread the upper then check out that bobbin and begin again. In the meantime remove the wonky stitches and for heaven's sake, do not snip into the fabric. I may have repeated this mantra a little too late. Snip! Snip! I covered it up with some squiggly stitches. It took about 5 hours to quilt this one, plus a 30 minute lunch break. I took it off the Coronet frame and guess what? There is a whole row plus the white border I forgot to quilt. I know, right! I had no desire to re-load the whole business so over to Destiny I went and set up for a bit of free motion stitching. Put on the open toe free-motion quilting foot, pushed the right buttons and set the stitch length. Free Motion setting is that top button. Stitch length set and a quick finish was completed.
