The Cloth, the Quilts and the Ladies of the Cloth

Today's post was dedicated to Linda, today we are going to talk about Susan, not behind her back but right here, in a public forum! Shameless I tell you Shameless!! Just take a moment and admire this table runner. The glorious color, pattern and geometry. Love, love, love the fabrics and the jewel-like presentation of the center prints. Typical of Susan, this runner has a modern esthetic with a traditional nod to design. I am so impressed.  

A simple gridded type of machine quilting makes this work stand on its design.

Another special piece by Susan is this little Hexi designed wall piece. We all just oohed and ahhed when we studied the design closely. Much more than it appears at first, the little hexi's are paper pieced then stitched down, by machine, with the little edges loose against the panel of background.  

You can see what I mean in the photo below. Susan said she was inspired by a photo on Pinterest. 

 

 And there is another element of note. We studied this background fabric and the consensus was that the fabric resembled an underwater sea-scape or an aquarium. What would that mean? Fish, we think she needs to add three dimensional fish. This was quite funny because Susan was thrilled because she felt she was done with the piece. Now she agrees, she needs fish.   

And what is the moral of this story? Sometimes you may want opinions and sometimes you may not. These opinions were offered in good faith mind you and we all had a bit of a chuckle. Friends are like that, yes they are!
