From the Sew and Sews, the Current Projects

Our group had a hiatus of sorts last week. In the church hall where we meet other activities were scheduled for Vacation Bible School. We will have some catching up to do! These photo's are from a couple weeks ago when Jenny shared her experiences dying her hand spun wool. She noted that the slightly off-white yarn dyed a deeper color than the white yarn. The colors were achieved using the same dye bath but are a little richer, and more concentrated. Both are very nice.

Isn't this variegated colorway just beautiful? Can't wait to see what she does with these.

How special are these wound onto the little wooden spools? Love, love, love the colors.

Here is Susan's little hand-pieced quilt. Notice how the centers of the three converging kite-shaped pieces create Kaliedoscope effects?

I just had to snap a picture of this little needle case that Pat is using....how cute is that?

You know I have a thing for these things!
And last but not least. Jenny visited her parents in Florida a few weeks ago. Her Mother, Marion, a former regular here made this for her. What a beauty! These rich fabrics are so great together. The diagonal set of the squares really give this tote bag great style.

A little decorative stitching never hurt any project!!!

I hope you have the opportunity to share your work with like-minded creatives, it enhances everyone. Be aware, however, their passions will rub off on you and you will want to try more and more crafts!
  • are you a totally focused craftsperson?
  • do you work on more than one project at a time?
  • do you prefer machine to hand work?
  • have you tried machine binding your quilts?
  • are you inspired by blogs?
