Field Trip, or, I Need Yarn

Downtown Ligonier, Pennsylvania - Photo by Todd Wilkins
I needed yarn, that was my reason for going and I'm sticking to it! I really do not need an excuse to travel to this little village in the foothills of the Allegheny mountains about 1 hour East. I recruited a dear friend and off we went. Now, I really was looking for yarn, but there are many little shops here tended by hard working small business owners. You know how I roll on that subject. Anyway, we visited one of my favorite gift shops, called The Strawberry Crow.

Unique craft and decorative items, here. There are two yarn shops, one I profiled last summer, Kathy's Creation, post here. This time I enjoyed Bo Peep's Fine Yarns. here. Oh, my what beautiful yarns, samples and displays! I did not take any photo's because they are in the process of moving to a remodeled mansion down the street. This will be a go-back when the yarn has settled, so-to-speak. Drooling and overwhelmed by possibilities I was in fiber heaven. I was looking for a neutral to go with the yarns frogged from this project.

first round rondell

the blanket that wasn't
The new project is a modified Granny-Square piece, using only two simple rounds. One is a Rondel of twenty treble crochets with the round squared off by the primary color. The rondel's will be varied colors of lavender, purple, greens and maybe a golden color. The background color will be the  gray. I think the pattern requires 42 rondell's of 6 different colors, I have a way to go on this project!

Of course, there had to be something irresistible, I had to bring this home
kid mohair and silk
A stunning Debbie Bliss Kid Mohair and Silk, I think I am having some serious palpitations! The colors are a blend of about three gray's, three lavender's  and a wee pinch of a gray/green. Holy cow....or Holy Kid!
